The holidays are around the corner and with them come guests, decorations, gifts, and a lot of moving parts. A little organizing now can make the season smoother and more joyful. Here are five simple ways to get ahead before the festivities begin:
1. Clear the surfaces. Counters, tables, and entryways collect clutter fast. Take ten minutes a day to clear these high-traffic zones so you have space for cooking, wrapping, and gathering.

2. Streamline the kitchen. Donate extra mugs, expired pantry items, and anything that’s taking up precious cabinet space. You’ll thank yourself when it’s time to host or bake.
3. Edit your décor. Before pulling out the holiday bins, let go of tired or broken decorations. Keep only what you love — your home will feel festive, not crowded.
4. Prep the guest spaces. Freshen up the guest room or pullout sofa now. Wash linens, clear closet space, and stock a small basket with essentials for a welcoming touch.
5. Create a donation zone. Set up a bin for items you no longer need as you clean and decorate. Drop off donations before the end of the year for a lighter, more spacious start to the new one.
A little simplification goes a long way — and the more calm you create now, the more time you’ll have to enjoy the season.
